6.7L Cummins Complete Engine – Engine Painting

Preparatory Steps

Remove the cooling fan drive belt. Refer to Procedure
008-002 in Section 2.
Cover the following parts of the engine:
โ€ข Exhaust and intake openings
โ€ข Electrical components
โ€ข Fuel inlet and drain connections.

Use steam to clean the engine, and dry with compressed air.
NOTE: Make sure all engine surfaces are clean and dry before painting the engine.

Protect the following components from the paint:
โ€ข All dataplates (engine, fuel pump)
โ€ข Exhaust manifold
โ€ข Turbocharg er turbine housing
โ€ข Flywheel
โ€ข Flywheel housing transmission mounting surface
โ€ข Electrical connections
โ€ข All decals
โ€ข All pulley belt surfaces
โ€ข Any exposed fittings, threads, and electrical wire terminals.

Paint the engine.
