Install the injectors with sealing washers into the cylinder head. Refer to Procedure 006-026 in Section 6.
Measure the injector protrusion.
Install depth gauge assembly, Part Number 3164438, on the cylinder head combustion deck and zero.
Rotate the depth gauge so it is measuring the injector protrusion at the highest point on the injector.
Measure the injector protrusion for each injector.
If the injector protrusion is out of specification, check the thickness of the injector sealing washer. Refer to
Procedure 006-026 in Section 6.
If the sealing washer is the correct thickness, check to make sure the injector bore is clean and free of debris.
Also make sure that the sealing washers are not ‘stacked’ in the injector bore.
Install depth gauge assembly, Part Number 3164438, on the cylinder head combustion deck and zero.
Rotate the depth gauge so it is measuring the valve recession into the cylinder head (B).
Measure the valve depth for each valve.
If the valve depth is not within specification, check if debris is preventing the valve from closing completely. If
no debris is found, remove the valve and inspect the valve seat and valve face for damage.
