6.7L Cummins Compressed Air System – Air Compressor Inlet Tube – General Information

There are two types of air compressors, naturally aspirated and turbocharged .
Naturally aspirated air compressor receives intake air from either the inlet side of the turbocharger or a separate
air intake source than the engine. The intake air will be approximately equal to ambient air pressure. For removal
and installation procedures, refer to the OEM service manual.
A turbocharged air compressor receives intake air from the intake of the engine. This means the compressor
intake air is the same pressure as the air intake manifold of the engine.
This procedure covers turbocharged air compressors only.
