1. Manufacturer recommends removing engine to service front cover. Remove engine. See ENGINE. Remove water pump. See WATER PUMP. Remove vibration damper bolt and washer. Using puller, remove vibration damper.
NOTE: If necessary to remove high pressure oil pump or high pressure oil pump reservoir, see HIGH-PRESSURE OIL PUMP and HIGH-PRESSURE OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR .
2. Remove oil pan and oil pump pick-up tube. Remove front cover retaining bolts. See Fig. 117. Remove front cover and gaskets.
