Cummins 4BT – Connecting Rod Bearing – Replacement – Removal

Drain the lubricating oil.
Remove the lubricating oil pan.

Rotate the crankshaft to position two of the connecting rods at “ BDC” (Bottom Dead Center).

Remove the lower bearing shell from the connecting rod cap and mark it with the letter L (lower) and the-cylinder
number it was removed from.

Push the connecting rod away from the crankshaft to allow the upper bearing shell to be removed.

Remove the upper bearing shell and mark it with the letter ” U ” (upper) and the cylinder number it was removed
from.
