Caution: Never use water alone for coolant. Damage from corrosion can be the result of using water alone for
coolant.
NOTE: A 50 percent mixture of antifreeze and water must be premixed before filling the system. The ability of anti
freeze to remove heat from the engine is not as good as water, so pouring antifreeze into the engine first could con
tribute to an over heated condition before the liquids are completely mixed.
Close all drain valves and fill the system. Use a mixture of 50 percent water and 50 percent ethlene glycol anti
freeze to provide freeze protection to -36 °C [-3 4 ° F].
Install the pressure cap. Operate the engine until it reaches a temperature of 80°C [180°F], and check for coolant leaks.
Check the coolant level again to make sure the system is full of coolant.
Warning: Before removing the pressure cap, wait until the coolant temperature is below 50°C |120°F]. Failure
to do so can cause personal injury from heated coolant spray.
