6.7L Cummins Lubricating Oil System – Lubricating Oil Pan – Install

If removed, install the oil suction tube. Refer to Procedure 007-035 in Section 7.

For front gear train engines, apply a 2 mm [1116 in] bead of sealant, Part Number 3164067, to the oil pan mounting
surfaces at the cylinder block to front gear housing joint and the cylinder block to rear crankshaft seal carrier joint.
For rear gear train engines, apply a 2 mm [1/16 in] bead of sealant, Part Number 3164067, to the oil pan mounting
surfaces at the cylinder block to front gear cover joints and the cylinder block to rear gear housing joints.

Oil Pan, Standard
Service Tip: To aid in installation of the gasket, apply a small amount of sealant, Part Number 3164067, to the gasket and oil pan flange. This will help hold the gasket in place during assembly.
Install the gasket, oil pan, and oil pan mounting capscrews.

Assemble the capscrews to secure the lubricating oil pan as illustrated.
Tighten all capscrews in the sequence shown in the accompanying chart.
Torque Value: 28 N•m [ 248 in-lb ]

Oil Pan, Suspended
Install the flexible gasket, oil pan, mounting flange, and oil pan mounting capscrews.

Tighten the oil pan mounting capscrews in the sequence shown.
Use the following torque value for 6-cylinder applications with a suspended oil pan.
Torque Value: 26 N•m [ 230 in-lb ]

Clean and check the oil drain plug threads and sealing surface.

It is recommended that a new sealing washer is used every time.
Install and tighten the oil pan drain plug.

Step 1             80 N•m             [ 59 ft-lb ]

Cast Aluminum Pan, M22 Plug
