NOTE: The use of air or power tools, such as a high speed sander with an abrasive pad, to clean the gasket material
can overheat the oil pan and cause damage to the sealing flange.
Clean the gasket surfaces.
Remove all gasket material from the cylinder block and oil pan sealing surface.
Steam clean the oil pan. Dry the oil pan with compressed air.
Inspect the oil pan support flange, gasket, suction tube, and tube braces for damage.
For suspended oil pans, inspect the mounting flange for damage.
NOTE: If cracks are found, replace the damaged part. Do not attempt to repair the oil pan by welding. The suction
tube must be replaced Replace the suction tube, if necessary. Refer to Procedure 007-035 in Section 7.
For suspended oil pans, inspect the flexible mounting gasket for cracking, brittleness, and any other damage.
Replace the gasket if damage is found.
