The IAT sensor is a 2-wire thermistor-type sensor. The PCM applies 5 volts to the IAT sensor circuit. The sensor
changes the internal resistance as the intake air temperature changes.
The intake air temperature is used for MAF sensor correction and an input into the engine controls, particularly,
engine coolant fan operation and for diagnostics.
