Use steam or solvent to clean the alternator brackets. Dry with compressed air. Inspect the alternator brackets for cracks or damage. If any cracks are found on the alternator brackets, they must be replaced.

Check that the pulley is in line with the other belt-driven pulleys. Use pulley alignment fixture, Part Number 3163524, to check the alignment. If the pulley is out of alignment, verify the correct alternator brackets have been used and are installed correctly.
