While the steering wheel is not moved, the torsion bar (2) is not twisted. There is no gap between the input
shaft (1) and sleeve (3). This makes no pressure difference between the chambers “a” and “b” of the cylinder, which keeps the ball nut (4) and sector shaft (6) in their positions.
